Sally Gates: Orbweaver get new web site

Brought to life in late 2010 by guitarist/vocalist Randy Piro (ex-Gigan, Hate Eternal), Orbweaver combine virtuosic musicianship with tones that spiral through the realms of psychedelia, noise, and the extremes of metal. Playing on both erratic and trance-like elements, the foursome produce an eclectic mix reminiscent of a Zappa-esque controlled chaos, fully exploring the talents and tastes of each member.

The storm of sound that is Orbweaver will be displayed to full effect in their upcoming debut EP, 'Strange Transmissions from the Neuralnomicon'. This recording will showcase 5 of Orbweaver’s current tracks, capturing the sonic onslaught of their live show, while embellishing upon the psychotropic nuances of their interludes. Recording took place at Miami's Pinecrust Studios with Torche’s Jonathan Nunez at the controls. Mixing and mastering was handled by Brian Elliot at Mana Recording Studios in St. Petersburg, FL.

Although a relatively new band, Orbweaver has already made their mark on the Florida scene, bombarding the region with a chain of live performances, along with opening for notable national acts such as Eyehategod, Today Is The Day, KEN Mode and The Atlas Moth. They have enjoyed features in local newspapers, blogs, podcasts, and the Floridian metal compilation - 'Swamp Abyss Sorcery'. Orbweaver was also recently voted 'Best Broward Metal Band 2012' by the Broward New Times.

Randy Piro and drummer Mike Pena initially formed the core of the band, recording a self-titled three song demo together in December 2010. Shortly after, lead guitarist Sally Gates (ex-Gigan) and bassist Jason Ledgard were recruited. The band's chemistry clicked as a four piece, and the resulting flow of music spawned tunes such as 'Tragic Orbit: A Doomed Cosmic Starship' and ‘The Church Warden Procedure’.

The coming year will see the release of “Strange Transmissions From The Neuralnomicon”, along with a barrage of promotional live shows and touring.
