|Victoria Yeh: Violet Fusion|
Victoria began playing the violin at age four when she told her parents she wanted to play "that" (not yet knowing what it was called!). Studying under Neila Peach, Thomas Pan, Ranald Shean (Founder, ESO), Broderyck Olsen (Assistant Concert Master, ESO), Frank Ho, and Martin Risely (Concert Master, ESO), Victoria grew to love music and performance; but classical music just wasn't enough. Through several chance meetings, she began performing and recording with several rock and jazz ensembles, playing in top clubs and bars in Edmonton and Ottawa.
Victoria is no stranger to the stage, having appeared across Edmonton, Toronto and Ottawa at venues such as the International Street Circus Festival, the Edmonton Fringe Festival, Toronto's Style on the Street Festival, Winspear Centre for the Arts, Massey Hall, The Toronto Centre for the Arts, the Glenn Gould Theatre, Eaton Centre, Ikea, Red's Entertainment, the Sidetrack Cafe, Cafe Dekcuf and El Mocambo. She has also had the pleasure to perform at various private and corporate functions, musicals and orchestras.
In addition to an active performance career, Victoria has recorded with Edmonton's alternative rock bands, Twentyfold and Ants on a Log; Toronto's original rock/pop group, About The Music; and Ottawa's rock group Nameless Faces, among others. A dream turned reality, Violet Fusion is a true culmination of Victoria's varied experience and influences and has finally allowed her to actively compose and produce.
Natalie began her musical studies at the age of 3. She started playing violin at the age of 7. At the age of 16 she received the ARCT performance diploma at the Royal Conservatory of Music, and majored in violin performance at the University of Toronto. Her list of teachers includes Scott St. John (of the internationally acclaimed St. Lawrence String Quartet), Annalee Patipatanakoon (of the Gryphon Trio), and Katharine Rapoport (pedagogy specialist). Natalie also has an extensive background in music theory and composition, having studied with Abigail Richardson and Alexander Rapoport.
She actively performs in orchestras, chamber music, musical theatres, jazz and pop concerts. She is currently a core member of the Niagara Symphony Orchestra and Sudbury Symphony Orchestra, and has also been playing with Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, Opera York, Sneek Peek Orchestra, University of Toronto Baroque Chamber Ensemble, National Academy Orchestra, Royal Conservatory Orchestra, and many more.
Violet Fusion(TM) covers the classic Beatles tune, "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" on electric violin at Gallery 345 in Toronto. The arrangement was inspired by Toto.
