Paula Leão,Julia Pombo: SCATHA Recordings - Guitar - Day One

Scatha, an all girl band, was born in the end of 2004 when Julia Pombo (Guitar) met Cíntia Ventania (Bass) and started to work on a metal project. In the middle of 2005, Cynthia Tsai Yuen ( Drums) joined the band. A month later Paula Leão (Guitar) and Rebecca Schwab (Vocal) joined too, forming a complete band that started to put in real effort to become an established band. Scatha had their first show in the legendary, “Garage” a classic show house in Rio de Janeiro – Brasil. Already with their with own compositions and unusual energy on stage, five young girls playing in the style of old heavy thrash metal shocked the public. To get there, the band had a lot of shows in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, always surprising the public and stirring up curiosity about the band. Members of the band are around the ages of 20 to 21 years old but in the beginning, the younger guitarist Julia Pombo had only 15 years of age playing fast and heavy! Leaving grown-ups jealous of her playing. In beginning of 2007 Rebecca Schwab had to leave the band and Angélica Burns took the voices of Scatha to a new level turning the sound of these girls a lot more aggressive than before. The Demo called “Keep Thrashing!” was released in August of 2007 with 5 tracks, showing a big diversity in compositions, with lyrics in both English and Portuguese (First language of the band).
