The Commander-In-Chief: new uniform... new guitar?

The Commander-In-Chief

Three years ago I had the great honor of getting my first endorsement, when I became an official Ibanez artist. Not only did they give me a fantastic guitar. They gave me a one-in-the-world guitar, the prototype Falchion 7. When I first saw it at the MusikMesse in Frankfurt, it was love at first sight. It has been the only guitar I have played for three years, since I prefer to play one guitar only. It has been with me on my first festival gigs, my first TV shows and on every recording I have done these last three years. Needless to say, I love my Godzilla, as I call him.

But sometimes you have to make tough decisions. Since I started to play very challenging classical music on guitar, I had problems with my collar bone being dislocated and other issues with my arms. It became clear that it would be better for me to have a 7 string guitar that is not so heavy, if I want to play these classical songs live. Also, a slimmer neck would be way better for my small hands. At the MusikMesse in March this year I talked to the guys at Ibanez about this.

I want to thank Mick for all the great help he gave me, when it comes to trying out and finding a new 7string shred machine, that meets all my requirements! This time I chose the guitar that was best to play for my hands and I cannot wait to get it! It will arrive here next week! The Falchion 7 is now officially retired, together with the red and blue uniform jackets I have used with it. I will tell you guys which 7 string Ibanez I will be playing from now when I have it fitted with the right EMG pickups and the right colored DR Strings! Then I will post a picture of it — with Ibanez UKand Ibanez Guitars.
