[Shreddelicious] 1 When did you start playing guitar?

[Rebecca Scammon] I started playing guitar when I was 10. I had played piano for four years previously but I got really tired of it. My dad had a Martin DM lying around and I would try to play it, but I was too small for the guitar. Eventually I decided I wanted my own guitar and I wanted to take lessons.

[Shreddelicious] 2 What made you decide to take guitar seriously?

[Rebecca Scammon] I had always really loved music and spent a lot of time practicing. I felt especially connected to guitar. It really struck me that I wanted to shred when I was about 14 and I heard Steve Vai for the first time. The first song I heard was The Audience is Listening and it blew my mind. I desperately wanted to be able to play like that.

[Shreddelicious] 3 What are your favourite albums?

Meshuggah - Obzen,
Meshuggah - Koloss
Obscura - Cosmogenesis,
Obscura - Omnivium
Gojira - From Mars to Sirius

[Shreddelicious] 4 What do you think of the use of social media for promoting your work?

Rebecca Scammon

[Rebecca Scammon] Since I've grown up with the newer generation, social media is a natural part of my world and seems to be a very logical way to promote myself and my music.

[Shreddelicious] 5 If you had a chance to play with anyone who would you pick?

Christian Muenzner
[Rebecca Scammon] My top pick would definitely be Christian Muenzner. He has been such a huge influence for me and he is an incredible musician.

It would also be amazing to play with any of the other musicians in Obscura, or any of the guys in Meshuggah. Playing with Rody Walker or Tosin Abasi would be awesome as well

[Shreddelicious] 6 Have you ever had any live show disasters?

[Rebecca Scammon] Nothing terribly interesting so far.

[Shreddelicious] 7 How do record your guitar videos?

[Rebecca Scammon] I record the audio in Logic and the video on my Canon digital camera and then I sync them up together in iMovie. The only tip I have right now is to practice whatever you're about to play a ton before you actually hit record on the camera. Otherwise, you may end up sitting there taking a million takes before you get a good one and wanting to punch yourself in the face.

[Shreddelicious] 8 What do you think of illegal music downloading?

[Rebecca Scammon] You should definitely support artists that you like because it's the only way they are going to be able to make more music. Buy t-shirts, buy CD's and go to shows!

[Shreddelicious] 9 Can you tell us a bit about your Guitars and Amps?

Rebecca Scammon
[Rebecca Scammon] My main guitar is my Schecter Hellraiser C-8 FR, but I also have a PRS McCarty that I love using when I don't need 8 strings. I play through a Mesa Rectoverb with a 212 cab. For my recent videos I recorded through a Line 6 UX2 and used Gear Box and Pod Farm for my tone.

[Shreddelicious] 10 Can you tell us about your latest recording?
[Rebecca Scammon] Ray Suhy and I started writing a record together a couple weeks ago. We're almost halfway through writing it now and we're really excited about the results so far. It's an interesting combination of some really heavy influences paired with lots of jazzy shred sections on top. We're hoping to record in spring and plan to release it during late summer. We will be announcing a band name soon. I will be releasing updates on my Facebook page.

Rebecca Scammon:  This is the solo section from an upcoming project that I'm writing with Ray Suhy(East Of The Wall, The Baltic Sea). Full song to be released soon.
