A Japanese teenage girl has been crown the Air Guitar champion of the world. Nanami Nagura, 19 from Tokyo, took the top spot at the event in Oulu, a city in Finland, last night. Sporting the nick name 'Seven Seas', Nanami beat 15 other contests to win the contest for Japan. The final was the culmination of a four day festival celebrating the 19th annual Air Guitar World Championships. The teenager thrashed about onstage with an invisible guitar dressed in colourful outfits and traditional Japanese garb in front of huge crowds.
After wowing the audience Nanami took home the prize of a hand made electric guitar. Twenty counties participate in the championship, which is scored in a similar fashion to figure skating. Performers have two, one minute rounds, 'playing' a song of their own choice and one by the judges.
They're judged in four categories technical merit, mimesmanship, stage presence and 'airness', or presentation.
