My first original song was written 9 years ago, and up until now I’ve never decided to share it. At the time I had been trying for many months to write my first composition on the guitar, but never felt a spark of inspiration or the right starting point. Then when we got the abrupt news that my father had cancer, and at every hospital visit his life expectancy became shorter with the amount of tumor cells growing bigger, it felt like my daily life became like a movie. I suddenly felt a strong urge from deep inside to pick up my guitar and play something that didn’t exist yet, like a soundtrack to everything that was going on during those 5 uncertain, sorrowful weeks. Within a couple days, a song was born, and luckily my dad was still able to hear it before he passed. Looking back, I can now say that this moment was the start of my understanding of how original music comes to life: expressing feelings and experiences through melody, chords and harmonies. It is still my greatest passion until today. Ik mis je, pap ♥
