Gussie Larkin: Earth Tongue - Flashlight + Dungeon Vision

Gussie Larkin is a powerhouse in the independent music scene, known for her heavy, fuzz-drenched riffs and unique creative direction. Formed in Wellington, New Zealand, Earth Tongue is an immersive two-piece band consisting of Larkin on guitar and her partner Ezra Simons on drums. They are celebrated for their hypnotic blend of proto-metal, stoner rock, and occult psychedelia.

The Evolution of Earth Tongue: Core MilestonesThe Origin Story: The band formed after Larkin and Simons attended a heavy rock festival in Portugal in 2016. Inspired by the massive wall of sound, they formed Earth Tongue. Because both were guitarists, Simons had to quickly learn the drums from scratch.

Naming the Band: They chose their name after the Geoglossaceae (earth tongue), a distinct, black, club-shaped fungus.

The Sonic Signature: Their style features heavy Black Sabbath-inspired riffs, unusual time signatures, and robotic, chanted vocal harmonies. They intentionally avoid everyday personal musings to create entirely fantastical, sci-fi, and occult-themed worlds.

Relocation to Berlin: Originally from Pōneke (Wellington), the duo relocated to Berlin to set up a Northern Hemisphere base for their intensive European touring schedules.
