Biography

Public Figures is a Melbourne-based punk band built on the long-running creative partnership between longtime collaborators Evie Vlah and Gigi Argiro. Described as "punk with purpose," the band focuses on themes of identity, power, and resistance, delivering their message with a mixture of abrasive noise, theatrical pop sensibilities, and relentless energy.

The band emerged as a potent live force in the Australian music scene, quickly gaining a reputation for their explosive, unapologetic performances. Their sound draws from a diverse palette of influences, including The Muffs, Kim Gordon, The Divinyls, Kate Bush, and Kiss. After performing at major events like Golden Plains and sharing stages with acts such as Amyl and The Sniffers, Shannon & the Clams, and Magic Dirt, they solidified their status as a standout act in the contemporary Melbourne punk landscape.

Public Figures bring their uncompromising punk sound to Triple R, hosted by Rachel Short of Bright Lights.

The Naarm group performed tracks from their debut EP Figure It Out!, including the recent single How I’m Feeling, which confronts capitalism's collapse with punchy melodic guitars. In under a year, the four-piece have earned a reputation for high-energy shows, packed-out rooms, and a fast-growing cult following.
