Biography

Lovebites is a Japanese all-female heavy metal band renowned for their explosive blend of European-style power metal, relentless speed, and highly technical neoclassical shred. Formed in 2016 by bassist Miho and drummer Haruna, the band quickly garnered international attention, winning the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for Best New Band in 2018.

Following the departure of founding bassist Miho in 2021, the band went on a brief hiatus. In late 2022, they recruited 20-year-old bass prodigy Fami, who was already well-known for her technical slap-bass and fingerstyle covers on YouTube, ushering in a highly successful new era for the band.

The Dual-Guitar Attack

A defining characteristic of Lovebites is their blistering twin-guitar dynamic, which demands immense fretboard mastery:

Midori (Guitar): Known for aggressive sweep-picking, fast legato runs, and high-energy stage presence. Her influences include Kiko Loureiro and Nuno Bettencourt.
Miyako (Guitar + Keyboards): Provides a neoclassical and melodic edge, handling the sweeping, emotional phrasing that contrasts with Midori's aggressive shredding. She is heavily influenced by Ritchie Blackmore.
