What happens when you hand Yvette Young, Claire Glass, and Jessica Burdeaux of Covet a spinning wheel full of random gear and tell them whatever it lands on has to go into the performance? You get Rig Roulette!

In this first episode, the band spins the wheel, gets assigned random gear, and has to figure out on the fly how to incorporate them into a live performance of their song “lovespell”. No prep. No safety net. Just creativity under pressure.

In this debut episode of Rig Roulette, the band Covet—consisting of Yvette Young, Claire Glass, and Jessica Burdeaux—is challenged to incorporate randomly selected musical gear into a live performance of their song "lovespell" (0:09).

The Process:

Selecting the Gear: 

Yvette Young explains how the pedals change her approach to the song, comparing them to a palette of colors that help her consider space and melody differently. Claire Glass and Jessica Burdeaux discuss the nostalgic fun of using the gear, with Jessica noting how the Lil Jon soundboard was both a challenge and an exciting addition she hopes to keep using in future songs.

Spin The Wheel: 

The band members spin a wheel to determine which random effects pedals or gear they must integrate into their setup (0:21-1:14).

Creative Integration: 

The band spends time experimenting with the sounds, trying to figure out how to work the Lil Jon sample pad and the Rainbow Machine pedal into the song’s structure without losing the integrity of the track (2:15-5:16).

The Performance: 

 After some trial and error, they successfully perform "lovespell," weaving in the unexpected sounds and textures created by the new equipment (5:48-10:00).
