Note: Cö shu Nie is the visionary alternative art-rock and experimental creation of frontwoman Miku Nakamura—affectionately nicknamed "The Director" by her collaborators. Following their departure from major-label Sony Music, Nakamura co-founded the independent label RVRNC (derived from "Reverence") alongside co-producer Kaz Skellington.

Extensive Biography

Cö shu Nie is a boundary-pushing Japanese alternative, experimental, and math-rock band formed in Osaka in 2011. Renowned for their intricate, shifting time signatures, chaotic yet beautiful neoclassical/jazz-infused soundscapes, and Nakamura's striking, emotive vocal delivery, the group spent years building an underground cult following through self-released mini-albums.

The band achieved a massive mainstream breakthrough in 2018 when they signed with Sony Music Japan and released their major-label debut single, "asphyxia", which served as the explosive opening theme for the anime series Tokyo Ghoul:re. They subsequently expanded their footprint across global anime culture by providing iconic theme songs for The Promised Neverland ("Zettai Zetsumei" / "Lamp"), Psycho-Pass ("bullet"), and Jujutsu Kaisen ("give it back").

Entering an adventurous independent era under their own label RVRNC, the band released their landmark concept album SATURATED (in monochrome). Exploring a dystopian narrative within a standardized monochrome world, the record features elite international session contributions—including veteran jazz drummer Zach Danziger (Donny McCaslin, U2, Mariah Carey)—pushing their unique blend of technical math-rock and cinematic art-pop to heavier, more uncompromising sonic heights.
