Biography
Spiritbox is a critically acclaimed Canadian alternative metal and progressive metalcore band formed in 2016 in Victoria, British Columbia, by vocalist Courtney LaPlante and guitarist Mike Stringer (both formerly of Iwrestledabearonce). Named after an electronic voice phenomenon (EVP) device, the band has rapidly ascended to global prominence by blending crushing, down-tuned heavy metal grooves with ethereal shoegaze textures, progressive complexity, and dynamic vocal melodies. Operating independently via Pale Chord in partnership with Rise Records, they have become one of the most innovative and important forces in modern heavy music.
