Formed under Tamago Production (a subsidiary of 3Y Corporation), the group bridges popular internet culture, anime aesthetics (inspired by works like Oshi no Ko and Bocchi the Rock!), and high-energy J-rock/K-pop infused alternative band music.
Extensive Biography
QWER is a breakout South Korean-Japanese multi-national girl band that rapidly evolved from a digital content project into one of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed rock acts in modern Asian music. Brought together through a web-variety planning project spearheaded by creator Kim Gye-ran, the members were selected based on their distinct online backgrounds—spanning elite streaming, professional musicianship, and gaming communities—before undergoing intense musical bootcamps to forge a legitimate, self-contained rock band.
They officially debuted on October 18, 2023, with their single album Harmony from Discord, instantly capturing public attention with the viral breakout hit "Discord". Their momentum exploded globally with the release of their 2024 single "T.B.H" (고민중독) and their second mini-album Algorithm's Blossom, which featured the monster chart-topping smash "My Name is Malguem". Breaking the traditional mold of manufactured K-pop idol groups, QWER plays their own instruments live, delivers razor-sharp melodic pop-punk and alternative rock anthems, and fills major arena tours across South Korea and international markets.
