Band Biography & Kana's Addition

Formed in 2002 and making their official broadcast debut on MBC's Music Camp in 2003, Schizo (스키조) is one of South Korea's most influential and rare industrial rock and nu-metal outfits. Founded by frontman and medical doctor/surgeon Heo Jae-hoon, the band broke into the scene under the mentorship and production guidance of the legendary late Shin Hae-chul. Known for their abrasive mixture of heavy guitar riffs, electronic synth sequencing, drum & bass loops, and aggressive rap-rock vocals, Schizo became a staple of Korean rock festivals (including Pentaport and Incheon) and film soundtracks throughout the 2000s.

Following the departure of founding members around 2012, Schizo entered an extended hiatus lasting nearly 15 years. In 2026, Heo Jae-hoon revitalized the group with a revamped, high-energy lineup. Anchored by veteran powerhouse drummer Choi Hyun-jin (ex-Seo Taiji Band, Vassline), the band welcomed a new generation of musicians featuring bassist YOONi and guitarist Kana (Choi Hyun-jung / 최현정). Kana brings a sharp, modern visual presence and tight, aggressive lead and rhythm fretwork, re-energizing Schizo's signature heavy industrial groove for the modern festival circuit—marked by their 2026 comeback performances at the Hero Rock Festival and Jeonju Ultimate Music Festival (JUMF).
