CRAWLERS

Atmospheric Alt-Rock, Grunge Dynamics & Visceral Storytelling

Biography

Hailing from Warrington and Liverpool, CRAWLERS formed in 2018 around the core creative partnership of vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Holly Minto, guitarist Amy Woodall, and bassist Liv Kettle. Following the departure of drummer Harry Breen, the group embraced a renewed creative identity as a tight-knit trio, continuing to tour internationally and release acclaimed material.

CRAWLERS initially made major waves in the UK rock scene with their breakout single "Come Over (Again)", which racked up tens of millions of streams and caught the attention of Polydor / Interscope Records. Known for raw lyrical vulnerability touching on mental health, gender politics, and modern relationships, the band quickly graduated from grassroots club circuits to major festival stages (Reading & Leeds, Download) and high-profile support slots with acts like My Chemical Romance and Yungblud.

Selected Discography

Studio Albums

  • The Mess We Seem to Make (February 2024 | Polydor / Interscope)

The band's critically acclaimed debut LP, recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios in Wales. It established their dynamic range from whisper-quiet confessionals to explosive wall-of-sound choruses, featuring standout tracks such as "Would You Have Me?", "Call It Love", and "Kills Me to Be Kind".

Key EPs & Releases

  • Crawlers EP (2021 | Modern Sky UK) – Breakthrough self-titled introductory EP containing the definitive version of "Come Over (Again)".
  • Loud Without Noise (2022 | Polydor) – A major-label transition EP featuring fan favorites like "I Can't Drive" and "Fuck Me (I Didn't Know How to Say)".
  • TURN OFF THE TV (2026 | Nettwerk) – Solidifying their identity as a trio, highlighted by the punchy, driving alt-rock single "Afraid to Die".

Musical Style & Instrumentation

CRAWLERS weave 1990s grunge ethos and cinematic modern indie rock into their signature sound:

  • Quiet-Loud Grunge Dynamic: Deeply indebted to classic alternative acts like Pixies, Smashing Pumpkins, and Hole, their songwriting frequently pivots from delicate, muted verses into crushing, fuzzed-out choruses.
  • Textural & Melodic Guitar Lines: Amy Woodall avoids generic power-chord clatter, relying instead on chime-like chorus/delay textures, dissonant chord extensions, and searing single-note counter-melodies that elevate the vocal hooks.
  • Driving, Melodic Bass Grooves: Liv Kettle provides the rhythmic spine and melodic anchor, often driving songs forward with prominent, overdriven basslines while the guitar floats ambiently above.
  • Dynamic Vocal Delivery & Trumpet Accents: Frontwoman Holly Minto shifts effortlessly between soft, spoken-word intimacy and full-throated raspy belting, occasionally surprising arrangements with melancholy trumpet flourishes.
