Emily Wolfe

Gritty Blues-Rock, Modern Fuzz Dynamics & Signature Sheraton Riffs

Biography

Emily Wolfe is an American rock and roll singer-songwriter, guitarist, and producer based in Austin, Texas. Born in Raleigh, North Carolina, and raised in Texas, she began playing guitar at age five and started drumming shortly after, eventually performing live during her college years at St. Edward's University.

Gaining national attention for her fierce fretboard attack, anthemic songwriting, and meticulous tonecraft, Wolfe earned high-profile touring slots alongside acts such as The Gaslight Anthem, Heart, and Peter Frampton. Known as an avid gearhead who designs her own pedalboards, she partnered with Epiphone to create two acclaimed signature semi-hollow instruments: the Sheraton Stealth and the "White Wolfe" Sheraton.

Guitar Style & Sonic Signature

Wolfe's guitar approach bridges vintage Texas blues-rock with modern alternative crunch and heavy pedal manipulation:

  • Thick, Saturated Fuzz & Overdrive: Known for stacking gain stages—pairing transparent boosts (such as the Klon KTR) with heavy octave fuzz and clipping pedals to achieve a massive, singing lead tone with rich harmonic sustain.
  • Aggressive Pentatonic & Blues-Scale Phrasing: Rooted in hard-rock swagger and blues conviction, her solos favor wide, vocal finger vibrato, aggressive string bending, and punchy, repetitive rhythmic motifs over cold technical speed.
  • Semi-Hollow Body Resonance: Relying predominantly on her signature Epiphone Sheraton double-cutaway thinlines, she exploits hollow-body acoustic resonance to induce controlled musical feedback and percussive low-end "thump."
  • Groove-Driven Riff Writing: Constructing songs around tight, syncopated rhythm riffs that lock with the bass and drums, blurring the line between hook-heavy garage rock and heavy blues.
