Artist Biography

Born in Guarenas, Venezuela on January 19, 1994, Jess Allanic is a multi-talented force as a songwriter, singer, guitarist, keyboardist, and graphic artist. Best known as the creative driving force behind the UK-based alternative rock trio Calva Louise, Allanic's personal journey is as intense as her music. Having emigrated twice, she navigated early struggles living out of suitcases, staying in makeshift spaces, and pushing through immense financial and personal hurdles to plant roots in the UK music scene. Alongside bandmates Alizon Taho and Ben Parker, Allanic channels that resilient "path of the warrior" ethos into creating an uncompromising cross-genre sound that fuses metalcore muscle, screamo chaos, Latin swagger, and synth-drenched electro-pop.

Notable Album Releases

With Calva Louise, Allanic has built a thrilling, conceptually rich discography:

  • Rhinoceros (2019) – The striking debut album that introduced the band's ferocious energy and dynamic songwriting to the alternative underground.
  • Euphoric (2021) – A bold sophomore release that expanded their stylistic boundaries with heavy riffs and rich electronic textures.
  • Over The Threshold (2023) – A conceptual leap incorporating bilingual elements and heavier alternative metal grit.
  • Edge of the Abyss (2025) – Released via Mascot Records and co-produced with Pendulum's Gareth McGrillen, this sprawling sci-fi concept album explores alternate dimensions and human connection, showcasing Allanic's distinct artistic vision (including self-directed cinematic music videos and visual art).

Recent News & Projects

Calva Louise has continued its relentless momentum following the success of Edge of the Abyss. Keeping true to their DIY and self-sufficient ethos, Allanic has been at the helm of the band's striking visual direction, directing cinematic sci-fi music videos for tracks like "Aimless" and "La Promesa".
