The Departure of Tamu Murata and Hazuki from NEMOPHILA: Reasons and Future Outlook
In August 2026, the Japanese heavy metal band NEMOPHILA sent shockwaves through the global rock community by announcing that drummer Tamu Murata and guitarist Hazuki would be leaving the group. As the band navigates this massive lineup change, fans have been looking closely at the reasons behind their departure and what lies ahead for both musicians.
Why Did They Leave NEMOPHILA?
While official statements framed the departures around personal reflection and differing paths moving forward, several key factors contributed to their exits:
- Musical and Directional Differences: Both members hinted that the band's evolving musical direction and a heavy push toward expanded international activities no longer aligned with their individual artistic goals.
- Family and Touring Pressures: For Tamu Murata, balancing rigorous international touring schedules with family commitments played a major role in her decision to step down from a full-time position.
- Evolving Band Dynamics: Following prior lineup shifts, the departure of both original members marked a transitional turning point for NEMOPHILA as they shifted from a tight-knit quartet.
Future Plans and Endeavors
Although their official tenure as core members concluded following their final transition performances in late 2026 (including appearances at events like JILUKA presents MAD PIT FES 2026), both artists remain active in the music industry:
- Tamu Murata: Continues her highly respected career as an elite session and studio drummer, bringing her explosive rhythm style to various collaborative projects and customized drum clinics while managing a more flexible schedule.
- Hazuki: Focuses on her instrumental and guitar-driven projects—including her ongoing work with KOIAI—alongside custom guitar demonstrations, solo musical releases, and gear collaborations.
