Saima Zakir is Pakistan's first and only female electric guitarist who is proficient on the instrument in various music genres. She is a graduate of the Indus Valley School of Art and Architecture, with a Degree in Design. Her relentless passion for music and playing the electric guitar took her to the National Academy of Performing Arts (NAPA) where she earned her Diploma in Music (Major in Guitars), under the tutelage of guitar extraordinaire, Afaq Adnan. Other than studio recording experience, her solo work includes both videos and live performances of famous tunes, Jazz standards, and guitar instrumental covers in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. She has had the honor of performing at a music workshop and on stage with the U.S.-based Ari Roland Jazz Quartet. Hher collaborations include performing with Aamir Zaki in a project 'Just in Case' lead by the multi-faceted artist/music composer, Emu, and with Ahsan Bari in 'Sounds of Kolachi', amongst others. Be it live or the studio, Saima's priority has always been to undertake work that is uncompromising on professional work discipline, music quality, and offers room for creative expression and musical growth.
