Midori Tatematsu, Miyako Watanabe: Lovebites won the title "Best New Band" at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards 2018


Japan’s heavy metal heroines LOVEBITES have won the title "Best New Band" at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Awards 2018. The finalists were nominated by the staff of Metal Hammer and the winner voted for by its readers. LOVEBITES were crowned Best New Band during the ceremony tonight at Indigo at the London O2 and saw the band's by bass player miho and guitarist miyako flew in from Tokyo to accept the award.



“We are so happy and very honored to be receiving the best new band award. We know you only have one chance to get this. We would like thank everyone who has supported us. Thank you so much!!” said bass player miho.

“We will be back in England in August to perform at Bloodstock Open Air and look forward to seeing you all again.” added guitarist Miyako.



The news comes just three days after LOVEBITES’ EP Battle Against Damnationwas released in the UK, Europe and North America via JPU Records. The release topped their country’s iTunes Metal Chart upon release, is recommended by HMV in the UK and made the chain’s new and trending section, and saw Metal Hammer call the band “a rising phenomenon” and the EP receive high praise for its “understanding of the hallmarks of elite power metal” and that the “shred-fuelled assault” has nods to the new wave of British heavy metal movement and early thrash bands.


LOVEBITES will also be appearing at two of Europe’s biggest metal festivals this summer;
4 August 2018: Wacken Open Air, Germany
10 August 2018: Bloodstock Open Air, UK
